A rural Jasonville man was arrested Tuesday night for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after a one-vehicle wreck on County Road 1000W, north of State Road 48, near Jasonville. James B. Winfree, 39, Terre Haute, appeared in Greene Superior Court on Wednesday and was charged with felony neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle along with driving with a suspended license. Winfree had allegedly been drinking and was speeding when a cop car got behind him and hit the lights and sirens. Winfree is accused of leading the officer on a chase before ditching the car and taking off through the woods on foot, with his child in tow...

Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe was on the hot seat during the 2011 budget hearings Wednesday. There was a long discussion with Axe initiated by the Greene County Council about the operation of the EMS office and the council actually conducted two separate votes on reducing staffing and hours in his office...

The second day of 2011 budget hearings conducted by the Greene County Council saw two additional full-time positions be cut from the payroll. Total cuts made in the two days of hearings amount to $744,925.
