(Local News ~ 09/15/10)
Ali Eichhorst appeared in Greene Circuit Court on Wednesday morning and was sentenced by Judge Erik C. Allen to four years with all but 542 days (1 1/2 years) suspended. She was given credit for time served in jail and on work release and will be allowed to serve the remaining time on work release followed by 2 1/2 years on supervised probation. Eichhorst, 22, Linton, was arrested on March 19 on drug charges, along with Jessica Page and Paul Page, Jr., by officers from the Linton Police Department at the Page residence in Linton. Eichhorst has no prior criminal convictions on her record. However, she did stand trial in 2009 in a greatly publicized case involving the death of her sister. Eichhorst was accused of two class C felonies: Operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing a death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was 18 at the time of the incident -- and was the driver in a 4:30 a.m. crash on April 15, 2006 on County Road 1375 West (Atlas Road) near the intersection with County Road 230 North -- west of Linton. Her 15-year-old sister, Tara, was a passenger and died from her injuries. A 12-member jury found Eichhorst not guilty. In handing down Eichhorst's sentence in the current case, Judge Allen acknowledged the public interest in her case. "You've been watched very carefully, and you're going to be watched very closely," said Allen.
