Harold C. Morgan, 86, of Carlisle, passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor in Sullivan. Morgan was born on June 2, 1924, in Sullivan to Samuel Hayden Morgan and Dessie Grizzle Morgan. He was a retired Union Carpenter. Harold was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corps and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sullivan, Sullivan American Legion Post 139 and the Odd Fellows of Carlisle...

The cost of taking care of sick Greene County Jail inmates continues to take a chunk out of the budget. Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce doesn't see any relief in sight for this puzzling financial ailment that is impossible to diagnose. Pierce, who'll be starting his second term Jan. 1, says barring any unexpected year-end expenses, the cost of medical care is slightly lower in 2010 than the previous year at $79,848 -- as of Wednesday morning.......
