The Linton-Stockton Miner football team is sponsoring the Fourth Annual Miner Football Golf Scramble. The event will take place as a four-peron scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at the Phil Harris Golf Course in Linton. Entry fees are $50 for non-members (with cart and green fees included) while members can play for usual green fees plus $20. UPDATED: State Road 54 closed in Switz City following fuel tanker mishap

A large wrecker from Bloomington had to be called in this morning after a White River Cooperative semi tanker truck hauling diesel fuel overturned at the intersection of State Road 54 and Main Street in Switz City on Monday morning. The accident left the highway partially shut down until 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Chad Sipes, 40, was traveling East Bound on State Road 54, and the tanker traveled off the road resting partially on its side in a ditch. There were no accidents reported and no fuel spilled. The fuel had to be transferred to another tanker before the truck and tanker could be moved upright. The investigating officer was Greene County Sheriff's Deputy George Dallaire, with assistance from Switz City Fire Department, Linton Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance, and Indiana State Police.
