ATV accident leaves woman with minor injuries
(Local News ~ 02/28/12)
The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investigating an ATV accident that unfolded Tuesday afternoon in Switz City. Preliminary reports show Debbie Waskon, 46, lost control of an ATV on 4th Street between Fletcher and Main streets about 3:15 p.m. She apparently was driving fast and hit a dip in the road and the ATV overturned, said Indiana State Police Trooper Eric Nash, who assisted at the accident scene. Waskon was taken by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital, where she was treated and released. "It was mostly minor cuts and bruises," said Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Leon Dunigan. The ATV was registered to Rick and Joy Weaver, of Linton, police said. Dunigan said Waskon told him Rick Weaver was riding the ATV with her when the accident occurred. However, he's unsure that was the case. "She says Rick was on there with her, but it appears she was by herself," Dunigan said. "She's had a mild head injury, and may not have everything quite together yet, so I'm going to give her a few days." No charges have been filed, and alcohol use is not believed to be a factor, "not at this time," Dunigan said. (Staff Writer Mark Stalcup contributed to this report.)
