OWENSBURG -- The rural Owensburg man who shot two Greene County Sheriff's Department deputies Wednesday morning died from a gunshot apparently fired by a law enforcement officer. Billie E. Mowery, 75, of Sullivan, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Jasonville on March 12, 1937, the son of Clarence and Mary (Moulden) Mowery. Billie was retired from the Peabody Coal Company, was a United States Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Moose Lodge and the United Mine Workers of America.
