Robert S. "Bob" Montgomery, 63, of Worthington passed away at 9:36 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. Bob was born Jan. 23, 1949 in Vincennes to Sherman and Kathleen (Henderson) Montgomery. Bob had just retired as a teacher and athletic director at WRV Lyons after 13 years. He coached basketball 20 years at L&M and White River Valley High School. He had formerly worked for White River Co-op in Worthington and Beehunter for 26 years. Bob was a member of the Phil Harris Golf Course and was an avid golfer. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Lawrenceville Ill., High School in 1967. In 2011, he was inducted in to the Lawrenceville Athletic Hall of Fame and also graduated from Oakland City University. He was a lifetime member of American Legion and VFW in Worthington, and Linton Elks. He is survived by two children, Amanda "Mandy" (Lance) Davidson, Worthington; Blake Montgomery, Worthington; his mother, Kathleen Montgomery, Worthington; three step-grandchildren, Brenden, Ian and Mackenna, Worthington; brother and sister-in law, Bruce and Cindy Peters, Onley, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman; wife, Debbie (Peters) Montgomery. Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, and 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
