Shakamak Medical Center officially opened to the public Monday morning with a ribbon cutting. Nathan Bridwell, who initiated the push for the center 10 years ago, cut the ribbon along with Jasonville Mayor Roy Terrell. Greene County Health-Bloomfield will host a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon for the newly-constructed clinic. The open house will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., with the ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Owen Batterton, M.D. will serve as the physician at the 55 North Judge St. location. Linda S. Blaize, 68, of Linton, IN passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Linton Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Gary, IN on July 23, 1945, the daughter of Frank Mejean and Mary Jane Parks Mejean. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, also five brothers, John, Charles, Roger, Paul, and David Mejean, and one sister, Betty Kreisher...
