Man drowns after apparently slipping into creek

A rural Bloomfield man drowned after he apparently slipped and fell into a flood-swollen creek in Taylor Township on Tuesday morning. The victim, James Garten, 62, lived on the property where Bogard Creek flows on U.S. 231, south of Bloomfield. Greene County Coroner Sherri Wilson said no foul play is indicated and it looks like Garten may have been walking along the creek bank and simply fell into the water...
