A hitchhiker on State Road 54, who accepted a ride Thursday evening from an off-duty state police trooper, wound up in the Greene County Jail after the trooper smelled the odor of marijuana. Clifford Jay Emery, 59, of Bloomfield, was walking on SR 54 just after 6 p.m. Thursday when off-duty Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun offered him a warm ride to Bloomfield.....

Jerry L. Sullivan, age 68, of Jasonville, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Lawrence County on July 29, 1946, the son of Harold and Margaret E. An investigation into suspected methamphetamine manufacturing that involved numerous officers from several different agencies resulted in the arrest of two men last weekend, one in Switz City and one in Worthington. Co-defendants James Robert Kent and John Freeman Thompson appeared in Greene Circuit Court earlier this week for initial hearings and both were charged with two counts of dealing in methamphetamine, Level 5 felonies, and one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony...

According to a press release from the Indiana Department of Natural resources, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has made its way to neighboring Sullivan County. That makes a total of 79 Indiana counties where the tree-killing bug has been located. The EAB was also recently detected for the first time in Jennings, Pike, Scott, Spencer and Warrick counties...
