The Greene County Council has the opportunity to end a five-year dispute, while bringing in some revenue. How? With the proposed Innkeeper's Tax, which has been on the agenda a number of times since 2011. Some members of the community scoff at the word tax, even though this 5 percent tax could be the best of its kind: It doesn't come off the top of your paycheck and it isn't tacked onto your property taxes. Truth is, the Greene County tax may never even affect many local residents...
