Ruth Craig, of Owensburg, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 4, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born March 31, 1941 in Greene County, the daughter of Hubert and Bessie (Christenberry) Harper. Ruth was a nurse's aid at Garden Villa in Bloomington, she enjoyed a long career in health care and her passion for helping others. ...

The Plummer Creek Advisory Committee met Tuesday evening to discuss how to get a cost-share plan set. According to Watershed Coordinator Laura Demarest, the meeting went well. "We got an important part of the grant done and between eight and 10 people came," Demarest said. "There were all kinds of people there, from stakeholders to conservation officials. YOUTH FOOTBALL SIGNUPS The Linton-Stockton Youth Football League will have sign-ups on Saturday, August 13 from 8-11 a.m. and Wednesday, August 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the high school football field. Children in grades K-6 grades are invited to play. Children who turn eight by 1/31/2017 are also eligible to play tackle football and will be issued equipment at sign-ups. The Linton-Stockton girls golf team picked up its first win in three seasons, last year during a dual meet. It was the only match the Lady Miners won last year, but it was something to generate some excitement for the program.
