Friday, November 10 Metropolitan School District of Shakamak invites all to attend their 30th annual “Salute to Veterans” program. The program will be held 1:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Shakamak will be honoring all veterans, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency response personnel. Refreshments will be provided afterwards for those honored guests. Eighth annual Lyons veteran dinner to be held Saturday

The Lyons Veterans Memorial Committee will be holding its eighth annual appreciation dinner this Saturday. Judy Mullis, secretary for the organization, said the event has humble roots but has steadily grown over the years. “We started doing the dinner when we (Judy and Buck Mullis) were with the Boy Scouts. The dinner was donation only, as it still is today, and we used the money to buy flags,” Mullis said. “It eventually got big enough to where we could really honor veterans.”...
