Our Pet of the Week this week is Aspen. Aspen is a two-to-four-year old American Eskimo. Aspen is spayed, current on shots and heartworm negative. She will be microchipped. The staff at the Greene County Humane Society said they recommend Aspen be placed in a home without small children, and with someone who has the patience to help her acclimate to her new surroundings. Kenneth E. Gremore

Kenneth E. Gremore, age 87, of Bloomfield, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was born April 8, 1931 to George and Mabel Gremore in Vincennes, Indiana. Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ruth Gremore, of 66 years, who he married Oct. 27, 1951 in Washington. His parents and 6 sisters also preceded him. He most recently resided at Parkview Christian Village in Odon. He is survived by his two children, Darla (Robert) Bent and George (Pam) Gremore, all of Bloomfield. He was adored and loved by his family and six grandchildren, Zack (Gala) Bent of Seattle, Wash.; Karlyn (Blair) Lynch and Kaebra (James) Justin, all of Fishers; Corey Gremore and fiancé Pharyne Stephney of Bloomington; Emily (Jordan) Hasler of Bloomfield and Lindley (Marc) Makens of Charlotte, N.C. Ken has 11 great-grandchildren, Ezra, Solomon and Caspar Bent, Clara, Elias, and Molly Lynch, Isaac, Lucy, and Kate Justin, baby Makens due in May and baby Hasler due in July. Ken was a US Air Force and Korean War veteran and a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Bloomfield, where he belongs to the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife had received the Simon Brute Award from the Evansville Diocese. He retired in 1995 from Rogers’ Group after 30 years of employment and owned and operated the Gremore’s Farmers Market. Ken had formerly served on the Bloomfield School Board, Greene County Council, Greene County Redevelopment Commission and the West Gate Authority Board. He was an avid IU Hoosier basketball fan. His wit, laughter, and storytelling will be missed by all who loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Bloomfield with Father Biju Thomas officiating. Ken will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Loogootee. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at Meng Family Funeral Home, 616 East Elnora St., Odon, IN, with a Rosary Prayer Service scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Gremore Family has entrusted all arrangements to James W.
