Vandals crash Linton scarecrow contest

Some last-minute changes were made to the scarecrow lineup in downtown Linton over the weekend. Reportedly, on Saturday evening an alleged hate crime was simulated on the sidewalk in front of a local fast food restaurant. Two complete cross-country teams advanced to regionals Saturday in Bloomfield and Eastern Greene boys cross country. Linton, Shakamak and White River Valley also had runners advance as individuals. Linton-Stockton honors Charlie Karazsia

Linton-Stockton honored retiring Athletic Director Charlie Karazsia prior to Friday’s final home game of the football season. Principal Alicia Cornelius presented Karazsia with a plaque at midfield. The plaque showed the jobs and years Karazsia held at Linton as he started as a coach in 1976. He has served as athletic director for the last 22 seasons and hired coaches who led Linton to state titles in football and girls basketball during his tenure. Linton will dearly miss Karazsia’s positivity and leadership he brought to the school and his signature phrase “It’s a great day to be a Miner.”

UDWI reopens lobby to the public

Effective Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, the Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC will reopen its lobby to the public. Members will be required to wear masks and follow the new traffic pattern in place for the safety of lobby visitors.
