Mary Ann (Linder) Coulter, 97, of Evansville, formerly of Linton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at home. Mary Ann was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on May 7, 1923, to Leo and Frances (Roushar) Linder. She distinguished herself as a young teenager in Pella, Iowa, by teaching herself to tap dance and gave tap dance lessons to children for a nickel each. ...

Every basketball team in the state is on the lookout for the Linton-Stockton boys basketball team once more as the Miners will get an early-season measuring stick with the Linton Classic Saturday. “It’s a good test right away because we got a good North Knox team. Played us tough in the sectional and they returned everybody. They are an up and coming team in our sectional,” Coach Joey Hart said. “Parke Heritage returns four starters and they were a top 10 team in 2A last year.”...

Five-year-old Jayklin Graf was born with a genetic disorder called Rubinstein Taybi syndrome. On Nov. 10, Jayklin received heart surgery, and now that she is back home, she is eager to get in the holiday spirit, and into her role as “Jayklin Claus,” by gathering toy donations for Riley Children’s Hospital...

Two guided hikes are coming up at Patoka Lake. The first, on Saturday, Nov. 28, is a reschedule of an event that was rained out last weekend. Starting at 11:30 a.m., it will teach participants about what some animals do to prepare for winter and how they survive the extremes...

Linton musician Joshua Mollett (known by his stage name “Bubba Wiggles”) is incorporating his musical talents into giving back to families in need this Christmas. According to Mollett, this will be his first year participating in a holiday toy drive that has been in operation for the past three years...
