Max William Slough, age 98, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born in Coal City on September 30, 1922, the son of John Madison Slough and Ada Ethel (Dyar) Slough. Max worked as a self-employed farmer during World War II, for Peabody Coal Company for thirteen years, at NSWC Crane for eighteen years and served as a lay speaker at Glenburn United Methodist Church for twenty-three years...

Attorney General Rokita’s office settles with auto finance company; Hoosiers win

According to a press release issued by the office of Indiana Attorney general Todd Rokita, thousands of Hoosiers will soon receive major relief following a $550 million settlement with the largest U.S. subprime auto financing company. “More than 5,000 Hoosiers are receiving $261 checks as a result of a $550 million settlement with the nation’s largest subprime auto financing company, Attorney General Todd Rokita announced today,” the release reads. “The checks were sent on June 4.”...
