Linton plays at Riverton Parke on Friday
Union, Linton-Stockton and White River Valley all will conclude the regular season on the road Friday night.
The Bulldogs (5-15) will play at Medora (3-16), WRV (4-16) will face Class 3A No. 8 Washington (16-3) and Linton-Stockton (10-10) will travel to Mecca to face 6-14 Riverton Parke.
Union boys basketball coach Doug Boyd said that he is hoping to take a two-game winning streak into the sectional, which begins next week. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 41-36 overtime victory Tuesday night against Washington Catholic.
"We went into this week hoping to build some momentum going into the sectional," said Boyd. "We had to go to overtime, but showed a lot of determination to come back and get a win in overtime against Washington Catholic."
Medora comes into this match-up having lost nine consecutive games. The Hornets, who are under the guidance of fourth-year coach Paul White, last won on Jan. 13, when they defeated Indianapolis International 50-48.
The two squads have faced two similar opponents. Union defeated Holy Cross 55-31 and Medora beat Holy Cross 69-52.
The Bulldogs defeated Shoals 40-32 while Medora lost 51-36 at home to the Jug Rox in December.
"We both have similar records," said Boyd. "It is a long road trip and it is not an easy place to play down there.
"We will have to be focused and ready to play."
The Bulldogs and Hornets have met every season since 1993-94. Union has won all 13 meetings during that stretch, including 57-47 at Dugger last year.
Game time is set for 6 p.m.
* Linton-Stockton could win a share of the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference championship without playing a SWIAC game. The Miners will be rooting for Eastern Greene when the Thunderbirds play at North Daviess Friday.
The Cougars will win the SWIAC with a victory, but a Thunderbird win would create a four-way tie as Eastern Greene, Shakamak and the Miners also would share the conference crown.
"We will be rooting for Eastern come Friday night," said Clayton. "We are not going to sit here and say any different."
The Miners will be looking to insure itself of a .500 season with a victory against the Panthers.
"It is important to be playing well at this time of the year. Hopefully we got things going in the right direction," Clayton said of their 50-48 win over Clay City Tuesday night.
The Panthers, who are coached by former Indiana All-Star and Indiana State University guard Michael Menser, lost 62-38 at Fountain Central Feb. 17. Riverton Parke, who has won 4 of 9 games, averages just over 39 points per game while allowing almost 52.
Riverton Parke defeated the Miners 51-35 at Linton a year ago, giving them two wins in a row during the series. The two teams have met each of the past seven seasons with the Panthers having a 4-3 advantage.
Tip off in Mecca is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
* WRV will be facing a Washington team that has won eight consecutive games. The Hatchets last lost on Jan. 13, when they dropped a Big Eight Conference game at Gibson Southern, 58-51.
"We faced one of the best teams in Class A Tuesday and face one of the best in Class 3A Friday," WRV coach Gene Hall said of concluding the regular campaign against Barr-Reeve and Washington. "We want to play as well as we can, but our focus now is getting ready for the sectional.
"I am not sure how we are going to approach the Washington game. We might play it more like a scrimmage than a regular season game."
The Wolverines will again host the Class A sectional. They will open play at home Wednesday against Holy Cross.
"Some coaches concern themselves with wins and losses and others place a lot of importance on winning their conference," said Hall. "But we are trying to put ourselves in a position where we are playing our best basketball going into the sectional."
Game time at the Hatchet House is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
