Beatrice "Bea" Crohn

BLOOMINGTON ---- Beatrice "Bea" Crohn, 99, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at The Waters in Martinsville.

Born Oct. 29, 1905 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Jasper and Gertie Haywood Hasler.

She was a graduate of Scotland High School in 1925 and a graduate of Indiana University. She taught for 22 years in Monroe County Schools before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Indiana State Teachers and Monroe County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Monroe County Farm Bureau. She was on the board of directors for Van Buren and Indian Creek Township. She was a member of the Reeves Club, Elwren club. She was a 40-year member of the Lizzie Rebakah Lodge 314. She was past district deputy Noble Grand in district 13 and 33. She was very active in all her clubs.

Survivors include: a son William E. Crohn of Bloomington; a daughter Rosanna Messmer of Martinsville; two brothers, Leland Hasler of Newberry and Kenneth Hasler of Terre Haute; three sisters, Carrie Daniels of Bloomfield, Betty Dean of Bloomfield, and Dorothy Wampler of Ellettsville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Crohn, who passed away in 1963; a son Ronald Crohn, who passed away in 1957; two brothers, Frank and James Hasler; and two sisters, Bernice Foster and Kathleen Fiscus.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, 203 East Temperance Street, Ellettsville. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens with Bro. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Rebakah lodge service at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
