Daniel L. Griffith, 81, of Wilmington, Del., and formerly of Jasonville, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Wilmington, Del.

Born Aug. 24, 1923 in Jasonville, he was the son of William, Sr. and Maude Elsie (Wheeler) Griffith. He had been married to Ida Hicken Griffith for 47 years before she passed away in 1991.

He was an electrician and worked at the DuPont Company's Chestnut Run site for 34 years. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Pacific. His interests included gardening, fishing, music and literature.

Survivors include a daughter Donna M. Griffith of Wilmington, Del., and a brother Max Griffith of Jasonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ida; a son Daniel L. Griffith, Jr. in 1993; four brothers, John, Harold, Bruce, and William Jr. Griffith; and two sisters, Mildred Trowbridge and Edith Blanton.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, Jasonville, with Pastor Carl Leth officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linton, with military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
