To the Editor:

The Junior Class Parents Organization of Shakamak High School would like to thank the many individuals and businesses for making our donkey basketball game the success that it was.

First of all, we would like to thank the school board and administration of MSD Shakamak for allowing us to hold this fundraiser. Without their approval, we would never have been able to host this event.

The game was a huge success and proved to be a wonderful family night of entertainment!

We would also like to thank the following contributors: Black Beauty Coal Company, Sunrise Coal Company, Crowe Equipment, Boot City and Springer Insurance for their sponsorship; Chris Letsinger, Pam Burger, and MainSource Bank for selling tickets; Channel 2 for coverage on their morning show and evening edition of the news; Nancy Jones for the use of her cotton candy machine and for helping us make the cotton candy; Jay Criss for being a wonderful announcer; Brandon Morin for running the scoreboard; the Greene County Daily World and The Jasonville Independent for advertising our event, Greene County Daily World staff intern Jessica Tharp for writing such nice articles; and all the local businesses who donated prizes to be given away during halftime.

In addition, we would like to thank the following businesses/individuals for donating different items to be used throughout the night: Casey's, Shakamak IGA, Linton Save-A-Lot, Gary with Frito Lay Company, Danny Pike, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, and the Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Also, thank you to Micajah Green for singing the National Anthem and Morgan Bohnert for making the programs for the game.

A huge thank you goes out to each of the participating riders how made this a most memorable evening: Pastors Sam Bush and Dave Lutes of Jasonville Assembly of God; Pastor Dana Coverstone of Victory Christian Center in Seelyville; Pastors Mark Messmer and Joe Morrow of Lawton Street Christian Church; Pastor Rony Reyes of Lebanon Baptist Church; and Pastor Steve Miller of Wilson General Baptist Church; Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce; Greene County Probation Officer Julie Johnson; Jasonville Police Department officers Jim Gadberry and Brian Pilant; Pude Keller and Darren Sluder of the Jasonville Volunteer Fire Department; Brian Husband of the Lewis Township Fire Department; and Jasonville City Council candidate Brad Duncan.

Other participants were State Rep. Bruce Borders, Shakamak School Board member John Gambill, elementary teachers and staff Amy Boyd, Amy Hammond, Nora Myers, and Mike Hennie, and high school teachers, and staff Ronal Barber, Martty Chesterfield, Paige Wolf, Jon and Kelley Miller, Kenna Slough, and Jeri Morin.

Without their help, this night would never have been possible.

Many hours of work and preparation went into making this event happen, and many thanks go to all the junior class parents who sold tickets, donated food items, prepared food for the concession stand, and worked the game. Whatever your contribution, it was greatly appreciated. We would also like to extend a big thanks to all who came out to the ball game and supported the junior class through buying tickets and concessions.

If we have left anyone out who donated anything for this fundraiser, please accept our sincere apologies. We never want to leave anyone out, but with a fundraiser of this scale, it is always a possibility someone may get overlooked. It is certainly not intentional.

Raising money for any organization/event is a big undertaking. We are blessed with many dedicated parents here at Shakamak High School, who makes this burden lighter for all involved. Once again, thank you!
