Greene County Humane Society says thanks

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

To the Editor:

2007 has come to an end and once again the staff and Board of Directors for the Greene County Humane Society would like to thank the private sector, school districts, businessmen and women for their generosity and support of the shelter.

It is always a relief and a great pleasure to receive from the people and students of this county. In 2007 the shelter received financial assistance, dog food and needed supplies from Eastern Greene Elementary, Bloomfield Middle School and White River Valley High School. In addition, Local Girl Scout Troop 276, several individuals and collaboration with Greene County's Solid Waste Division proved positive in elevating the lives of the animals in our care.

There are local businesses that we owe our deepest gratitude to as well. They allow us to function at a professional level through guidance and expert services at little or no cost. There are also those businesses that help us collect money by allowing our collection banks to sit on their counter tops. Not to mention the helpful staff of Chris Pruett and the Greene County Daily World for allowing us to express our needs and promote responsible pet ownership.

It takes a village and GCHS has made great strides and improvements. We feel that the animals in our care are important and that the citizens of this county deserve a shelter that they can be proud of. Everything we receive is very much appreciated and used to benefit the facility in some way.

If you are one of the good people, groups or businesses that supported us in 2007, thank you. Your efforts and contribution make all the difference and we hope you will continue to be there for us in the new year.

The response to our Stuff a Stocking program was exceptional this year, and the dogs and cats have a good stock of rawhides, chew toys and jingle balls to keep them occupied. If you haven't seen our new Web site, created and donated to the shelter by Kegan Inman of Kegan's Kandy Web Services, please visit it at www.greenecountyhumanesociety.org for a current listing of our animals in need of a good home.

Have a happy and prosperous New Year Greene County. We appreciate you!
