Letter to the Editor

Why apologize for pointing out the facts about war?

Monday, April 7, 2008

To the Editor:

One of my coffee mates at McDonald's expressed his displeasure with me about the last letter I submitted for print.

He thinks I'm unfair when I cite the Democrats with the blame for the condition this country finds itself in. After seven years of abusing and blaming President Bush, they whimper when the finger is pointed at them.

Why should I apologize for stating proven facts? Every war the U.S. prosecuted in the last century was declared by a Democrat Congress. Even the fighting in the Middle East was sanctioned by the Democrat Congress.

So, don't refer to it as Bush's War. No apologies will be forthcoming unless the liberal left apologizes for the abuse they have heaped on G.W. Bush.

If the Democratic party is to survive, they need to abandon the negative approach they've employed in the last 45 years and proceed with a positive approach.

This primary campaign has been a disgrace. Wake up! America deserves better.

I wish to thank all you fine people who have encouraged me in my writing, both in person and with the telephone calls. It makes my day when I learn that I'm not alone in thinking.

One of these friends followed with a letter of his own. He presented his case very well. I learned from his message.

I've been talking with some of our young people, seeking their input on the city's youth center idea. They are overwhelmingly in favor of a center, but not excited about the Conservation Club as the location. They have some very good ideas on what activities could be offered.

We ought to include them in making plans for this project. I find these people to be quite intelligent.

I welcomed the city's decision to enforce the noise ordinance. To prove this, I had a new muffler installed at County Muffler just this past Friday morning. So, until we meet again.

Thanks for listening.
