Parent thankful for Special Olympics

Monday, April 14, 2008

To the Editor:

I want to give a world of praise for these terrific people who are organizing the Greene County Special Olympics program for giving my son, Elijah, who is 12 years old a chance of friendships and to be all he can be.

Elijah is autistic and to give him a chance to do sports, and be involved with people is wonderful. The praise they give him out on the track field and the friends he is finally making after 12 years, it is wonderful. Thank you all -- Linda and Bill Bedwell,Tina Shields, Levi Sheilds, Susan Isenogle, Penny Smiddie, Jessica Holtsclaw, Christina Crane, Liz Tharp, Jack Terrell, Janielle Zuckschwerdt,Terry Butler and Greg Parsley.

For me and Elijah and all with autism we kindly ask you all to sit back and read these words and realize autism is worldwide and much, much help is needed. One in 150 children are born with autism. This is like a child being born every 3 to 13 mins. Reach Out,

Jean Ward and Elijah Hall

Sullivan,IN
