It's hard to hear
golf carts
To the Editor:
In response to Marlene Goodwin Lyon about golf carts in Worthington: I agree the golf carts are great for senior citizens and that most people drive them carefully.
My main complaint is they don't make any noise when you are driving them and people can walk out in front of them. The only time I have been hit by a golf cart, I was in Worthington at a yard sale. "I was not hit by a senior citizen."
Luckily I only got a slight leg bruise. I have had several near accidents at the White River Valley Antique Show and I have been told that a few people have been hit at this event by golf carts.
This problem could be solved very easy by installing an electrical beeper on the golf carts. These beepers don't cost very much and are easy to install. They are not very loud, but loud enough so that people can hear them at least 10 feet away.
I use to do a lot of bicycle riding and had the same problem in that people couldn't hear me coming and walk out in front of me. I solved this problem by putting a squeeze bulb horn on my bicycle so I could let people know that I was coming up behind them. This would also work on golf carts.

Sparks family says
thanks for recent support
To the Editor:
The Sparks family says thank you to everyone who was with me on our last six months of Morris' life. Thank you to everyone who was there to help take him back and forth to the doctor and hospitals.
A special thank you to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home for their kindness during this time plus all of their help to Rev. Mike Chapman for the message he gave considering it was his Uncle Morris.
To all the people who brought the most delicious food and all the cards I have received, to everyone who sent flowers and came to the funeral home, to the Cancer Floor 4 East Oncology of Bloomington Hospital and the wonderful care he received there.
