All you have to say is 'I'm sorry Kay'

To the Editor:

To whoever hit my cat: "Slow Down."

She came silently one day,

Sat on my step as if to say

"I'm here to stay"

Two years she gave to me

Faithful as a cat can be.

Followed me everywhere as if to say

"I'm here to stay."

Today, August 11, someone hit my friend,

Now I'll not see her again.

I buried my "Fat Cat" today.

Hit by a driver to heartless to say

"I'm sorry Kay"

You could have told me instead of leaving my beautiful Fat Cat lay in the road.

I know animals wander in the road

but what if she was your animal or a child? Would you have stopped? You were speeding, everyone knows.

Maybe someday you will say to me

"I'm sorry Kay." She was like my child, loved like family.

Lyons Center

offers a lot

To the Editor:

From the Lyons Senior Citizens Center,

My name is Kathy England, I have been the director of the center since May 1. I would like to thank everyone for their donations, also for supporting our breakfast.

Starting in August we are going to start having a breakfast once a month. It will be different. Pancakes and sausage one month and something different the next. We are also having a raffle on a homemade quilt. Please come in and check it out.

We have wooden toys, trucks, cars, doll cradles, stool and waste basket are a few of the things. We play bingo two days a month. We have nurses who come in to check B/P & B/S. We have a pitch-in once a month.

The day I am most proud of are Tuesdays from about 12:30 p.m. to 2 or 2:30 we have good old gospel music.

We serve our meals at noon. Come in and check us out.

Thank you.
