Bloomington man faces drug charges

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

A 45-year-old Bloomington man, Timothy P. Hobbs, is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond pending his appearance at an initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court on Thursday.

The preliminary charges filed against Hobbs on Wednesday included possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor.

Hobbs was arrested on Tuesday by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Inman.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Inman was on routine patrol when he checked the Burch Cemetery on County Road 225 N. off of State Road 45. Inman found a vehicle, with its back hatch open, parked at the end of a long lane.

The affidavit states that the officer found Hobbs and a female who told him they were relaxing.

When he asked for identification, the female provided IDs and the male went to the center console to get his wallet out.

In the process of getting the wallet, out came two baggies -- one with a green leafy plant substance and the other with five yellow pills that were identified as Lortab.

Hobbs did not have a prescription for Lortab, which is considered a controlled substance.
