WRV loses to North Daviess

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

North Daviess dominated visiting White River Valley, defeating the Wolverines 4-0 in a high school boys tennis match Wednesday.

The Cougars did not lose a game in winning all four matches at love.

"It was just not our night," said WRV coach Daniel Crites. "They are one of the best teams in the conference.

"We just ran up against a buzz saw tonight, especially with our lack of experience."

Crites had to alter his line-up since they were playing without Damian Hiatt.

Evan Karr and Derek Myers both played singles while Garrett Miller played No. 3 singles. Miller had teamed with Austin Roudebush at No. 1 doubles in the first two matches.

Roudebush teamed up with Ricky Anderson at No. 1 doubles against North Daviess. Anderson had played previously with Hiatt as Crites had not previously played anyone at the third singles spot.

"We had to adjust on the fly," said Crites. "It was pretty ugly tonight."

The Wolverines (0-3) will play at Bloomfield Friday.
