* Aug. 27 -- Timothy Hobbs, 45, Bloomington, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Inman was the arresting officer.

LINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

ACTIVITY LOG

The Linton Police Department's activity log for Tuesday included two requests for information only, two assists to the utility department after hours, one incident of vandalism, one custody dispute/exchange, one disorderly conduct, one accident with personal injury, one accident with property damage, three medical/illness, three animal complaints, two assists to another agency, two harassment complaints, one possibly intoxicated driver, one welfare check/concern, two domestic disputes, one shoplifting, one domestic dispute -- neighbor, one ordinance violation and four traffic stops.

* Aug. 26 -- Charges will be filed against an 18-year-old woman who was observed exiting the WalMart store before 11:30 a.m. without paying for with several items. After being in the store for approximately three hours, she was observed placing two magazines, a bottle of soda pop and a pair of blue jeans in a bag. She then put on a new pair of shoes before passing up all points of sale and left. LPD Patrolman Karl Jacobshagen is the investigating officer.

Linton Fire Department

* Aug. 27-- The Linton Fire Department responded to a barn fire located on County Road 1600 West-- at the residence of Marcus Bartley, of rural Dugger.

Fire Chief Lonnie Eberhardt said that the fire destroyed a tractor and other farm equipment.

The LFD was dispatched at 11:39 a.m. and returned to station at 1:15 p.m.

The Dugger Volunteer Fire Department was first on scene.
