Mabel L. Mather

Mabel L. Mather, 94, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, at her residence.

Born Jan. 5, 1914, in Malden, Missouri, she was the daughter of George and Ollie (Howell) Simmons.

Her early life was spent in Missouri and Tennessee but she lived most of her life in Michigan with some early married years in the Seattle, Washington area. She was mostly a homemaker raising four children but during the war years worked in a machine bolt factory. The last ten years she resided in Bloomfield and Bloomington where she was a member of the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church, and then of the Bloomington United Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by three sons, Rev. Robert E. "Bob" Lorimer (Mary S.) of Bloomington, George H. "Herb" Lorimer (Adla) of Lansing, MI, and Errol L. "Lynn" Lorimer of Fayetteville, AR.; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Myrna Harrison of Flint, MI, Margaret Mortenson of Venice, FL, and Gladys Hestand of Flint, MI; her husband, Gerald A. Mather of Warren, MI, her daughter, Shirley J. Epley of Frankenmuth, MI., and one great-grandchild.

Cremation services were handled by the Nathan Butler Funeral Home of Worthington.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at the United Presbyterian Church in Bloomington at 3 pm on Tuesday, September 30. She will be interred at a later date beside her husband at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery in Flint, MI.
