Salvation Army

appreciates help

To the Editor:

Thank you WalMart for setting aside Nov. 8 as the official kick-off for Salvation Army bell ringing and your continued support of our efforts.

Thank you to Lori Kahl, Wanda Braun, Jack Fisher and Sweetie for helping me by braving the chilly wind and filling the day with bell ringers. Thank you to those who stopped by our kettle and gave generously from their hearts

Special thank you to Joan Smith of Lampass, Texas for her generous gift in honor of Shirley Short. In total Greene County Salvation Army raised $971.29 which was a wonderful start to the bell ringing season, but we still have many more dollars to go!

The Salvation Army is comprised of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Thank you to some extraordinary people ... Terri Ganstern, Shirley Snider, Boy Scout Troop 343, Sally Ann and Joe Spurr, Melissa Cliss, Jodi Lintrit, First Presbyterian Church of Bloomfield and Shakamak FCCLA for volunteering to stand kettles for us this year.

Achieving our goals of meeting the needs of this county could not be made possible without your volunteering.

All monies donated during this bell ringing season go to our annual budget and will remain in Greene County to assist those in need. Greene County Salvation Army assists with utility bills and deposits, medical bills such as prescription costs, assistance with rent, and with clothing and food assistance as long as our money lasts. We also assist with "School Tools" kits which are basic back-to-school supplies; hygiene kits and socks for the local nursing homes.

There are many time slots available for those desiring to help us out. Come on Greene County let's make this year's bell ringing the best season yet by raising more money and helping more people this year!

Feel free to call me at 847-3224 or Lori Kahl at 847-2512. For those technologically inclined you can reserve your time slot via e-mail to greenecountysalvationarmy@yahoo.com.

Accident victim's family grateful for support

To the Editor:

We would like to thank everyone who helped Ashley Faulk in her automobile accident Nov. 5.

Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce, Lyons Town Marshal Ron Sparks, Sandborn and Edwardsport Fire Departments, Greene County General Hospital, AirEvac, Methodist Hospital and many special thanks to Larry Myers, Kyle and Shelly Williams, Mike and Diane Williams, volunteers and to all friends and family for your thoughts, prayers, flowers and cards.

You all are so appreciated, there's no words to express our gratitude. We are blessed that God had her a guardian angel that morning looking over her. If this has taught us anything it's that we should all appreciate each and every moment that we have with our loved ones like it's the last.

To the Editor:

The Owensburg-Jackson Township would like to thank those who supported their Health Fair held on Nov. 1.

Thank you to Monroe Hospital for providing very affordable flu vaccinations for $15 and the ability to offer Medicare patients the vaccination for free. We would also like to thank David Doane and the Greene County Ambulance for providing personnel and supplies for blood sugar testing. The ability to offer flu vaccinations, blood sugar testing and blood pressure readings is such a valuable resource to the citizens of Jackson Township and the surrounding areas.

The fire department would also like to extend their gratitude to Pamida for donating the First Aid Kits and Odon Family Dentistry-Dr. Michelle Jennings for donating the Dental Packs, Kim Waldridge for providing the chili and Ryan Sparks, Tracey Pfaff and Zack Deckard for providing their time.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Sherri Campbell of the Greene County Sheriff's Department for taking the time from her weekend to provide fingerprinting to the children and the valuable education materials.

We hope to continue this service annually and hope more individuals take advantage of these services.
