Great job Bloomfield Cooking Class

To the Editor:

One day last week we were invited to come to Bloomfield High School for a holiday day meal prepared by the students in Darla Bent's Cooking Class.

Our grandson invited us, we had never heard of this before and didn't know what to expect. We arrived at noon and were greeted with a smile from the students and were given a name tag.

We entered a room set up with tables and decorations. Each table had around six people and was served by a student. We were told the menu, which consisted of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, roll and pumpkin pie. There were at least 45 people in attendance.

The thing that made this special was that the entire meal was prepared by the students and served by the students. The mix was about as many boys as there were girls. This was an experience that students in a large city would not haven gotten.

The food was delicious and we told several of the students they could prepare our meal next Thanksgiving.

We would like to say thank you to Mrs. Darla Bent and her Cooking Class for the wonderful meal and for giving the students the chance to have a real life learning experience.
