Video Report: Woods outlines Chamber's goals for the coming year
Future goals of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce were shared by Chamber President Crystal Woods during the annual dinner meeting Thursday.
This year a strategic planning committee will be put in place to set goals, she noted. The chamber will be looking for volunteers to make the committee a reality.
One, five and 10-year goals will be set, she said.
The year 2009 will also bring a new fall festival/chili cook-off to downtown Linton. The festival is slated for Oct. 31.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to bring people to downtown and bring people outside of the community into town," Woods explained.
In other business, the chamber is also working on a community directory -- which is a new idea.

"They (directories) are going to be used locally, and given to new people in the community," Woods said.
The goal is also to offer them at a 50-mile radius so people outside of Greene County will be aware of what is available here, she added. The directories will also be given out at the boat show in Indianapolis.
"This directory will be a wonderful thing to share," she said.
The fourth initiative is something so new that Woods could only share its basic information.
"It's a program you apply to and join. It's a national and state recognized program that allows you to apply for grant money to fund downtown projects and festivals," she explained Friday.
Currently, Woods and Chamber Executive Director Cheryl Hamilton are researching the matter further.
"We're looking into it to see if it will work for Linton," Woods added.
Wrapping her speech up, Woods noted the importance of feedback.
"We want to receive feedback from members," she said.
