Miners lose at North Daviess

North Daviess remained perfect in the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference with a 63-35 victory over visiting Linton-Stockton in a high school boys basketball game at Elnora Friday night.

The Cougars are now 9-5, 2-0 in the SWIAC.

Thomas Nugent paced the winners with 19 points. He made five 3-pointers.

The Cougars, who beat the Miners 60-47 last year at Linton, made nine treys, outscoring the Miners 27-12 from beyond the arc.

Kendall Wittmer tallied 14 points and four steals for coach Brent Dalrymple's Cougars. Logan Wagler contributed 10 assists, eight rebounds and seven points.

Jacob Miller tossed in 12 points.

Linton-Stockton, who slipped to 2-11, 0-5 in the SWIAC, trailed 34-19 at the half, but trimmed the lead down to seven points in the third quarter.

Center Jordan Tharp had 12 points to top the Miners. Guard Evan Magni hit three treys, accounting for his nine points

North Daviess won the JV game 57-15.

The Miners will host Union (Dugger) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a game that counts in the SWIAC and Tri-River Conference standings.
