Solsberry man booked after domestic dispute
Christopher M. Whitfield, 27, Solsberry, was in Greene Superior Court on Monday morning for an initial hearing on a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury.
Whitfield was arrested April 7 by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Terry Wade after Wade responded around 11:32 a.m. to a 911 call about a domestic incident in Center Township.
Whitfield is accused of striking a female victim on the right side of her face after calling her a name.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the two were at a neighbor's residence with the victim's child and they were fixing lunch. As Whitfield was getting something out of the refrigerator, the female said something to him and he then called her the name. The female became very upset and started yelling at him and he then struck her.
The victim grabbed her flip-style cell phone and was going to call someone to come and pick her up but she said Whitfield told her she was not going to call the police and attempted to grab the phone away from her. Out on the front porch, a struggle ensued and the cell phone was broken in half and wouldn't operate.
The victim picked up her child, went home, locked the door and called to report the battery.
Whitfield was released from jail the next day after posting $1,000 bond.
A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 3.
