Lady Miners place fourth

Monday, April 13, 2009

Linton-Stockton failed to win a match and finished fourth at the Brown County girls tennis invitational Saturday.

Abbey Burris, Sara Hensley and Amy Goodman each dropped two matches at singles.

The Lady Miner doubles teams of Olivia Wells and Olivia Villian and Sabrina Colvin and Megan Johnson both went winless.

"We ran into three pretty good, and experienced squads on Saturday," said Linton-Stockton coach Brad McKinney. "It was an opportunity that will make us better in the long run.

"Our girls were able to play against some good competition and at times we were fine. The older more experience players were able to make more shots and were more consistent on the day. But our girls can learn from playing against players like that and someday it will be our turn to be in that position."

The Lady Miners match Monday at White River Valley was postponed.
