Are you ready for the second coming?

To the Editor:

The book of Revelations is a very significant writing, that is the most intriguing part of the Holy Word. As far as being so right to the point, in it's description of the future of this world and all the inhabitants who will be left here after Jesus Christ returns to take His believers home to be with Him and our Creator in Heaven.

It is more than just a book for reading like a novel, but it is from the mouth of God as told to the beloved Apostle John. "He: Chose John to write this, because He knew that he would do as he was told."

I was sitting watching a DVD on this warm Easter Sunday afternoon. The movie was titled "Left Behind." It is a most compelling and informative movie that has been put together so far and there will be more like it to come in the near future.

This movie was written and produced, directed and cast by all truly "born again believers." It starts just a few hours before Jesus' second coming. It shows us what people were saying, thinking, doing in different parts of the world. And then in a twinkling of an eye, a split second, thousands, millions of people, young and old, were just taken out of this world with no warning.

I started working on this about two years ago. And so much has happened since then that I thought I would add more to it now. Take all the events of the past year, for example. Have you seen any changes in our government, or events in other parts of the world? Just think about it. In the last three months alone there has been so much upheaval and changes in our government and in other parts of the world.

Not only governments but also catastrophic natural events, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts causing a lot of forest and grass fires, and also flooding causing enormous damages. That is just a small part of the events that are to come. We also have had a lot of really serious illnesses and death of thousands all around the world.

You may not believe the Bible, you may not agree with the narrative of events and you may disagree with my assessment of this event, but that is not important.

If God said that it will happen and how it will happen, then it will happen! The Bible also instructs us how to prepare for this event. That we will be taken out of here with all the other Believers. You alone are responsible for your destiny. Think about it. Search the scriptures and see for yourselves.

God bless all of you and taken care.

Slover family appreciates support

To the Editor:

Words can't adequately express our thanks and appreciation to all our friends for your support and care during the illness and passing of our loved one, Evelyn Slover.

We appreciated the visits, phone calls, food, cards, and beautiful flowers. Your kindness and thoughtfulness will be forever remembered in our hearts.

To Welch & Cornett Funeral Home and especially Todd Walton for your sensitivity and tenderness during a most difficult time. A special thanks to Pastor David Tyra for the beautiful message and specially for the comforting reminder that even though we've had to say our final good-bye, we have yet one more hello which will last forever for those who know and love the Lord Jesus.

To Pastor Gene Jeffers and Chuck Lynch for sharing beautiful memories and stories, thank you. And thank you to Mark Tobey and Doris Thornton for enlightening our heartache through song; and to our precious church family and the wonderful meal and fellowship following the service.

God bless you all.

Ed Slover and family
