Linton man jailed after he decides to change clothes in Walmart aisle
A 28-year-old Linton man was taken to jail early Sunday after he reportedly changed his clothes, for a wedding, in the middle of an aisle at the Linton Super WalMart store.
Victor J. Marlowe was arrested by Cpl. Chad E. Crynes of the Linton Police Department after the officer was dispatched around 12:28 a.m. on the report of an intoxicated man in the store.
The person who made the call to police said the man was "acting suspicious."
According to the police report, when the officer arrived, he found Marlowe exiting the store, staggering from side to side, appearing to need assistance to walk.
In the probable cause affidavit, Crynes wrote that Marlowe's speech was slurred, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and the officer had difficulty understanding what Marlowe was trying to say.
Crynes stated that Marlowe told him he was in the store to get clothes for a wedding.
The officer chose not to administer field sobriety tests for Marlowe's safety but did administer a test with a portable breath tester -- the result was .22 percent BAC.
According to the affidavit, store employees said Marlowe fell down several times while he was in the store and that he changed his clothes in the middle of an aisle.
Marlowe was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in without incident. He was released later the same day after posting $500 bond.
A preliminary charge of public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor, was filed against Marlowe in Greene Superior Court on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear at an initial hearing on May 29.
