Pantry receives

a lot of support

To the Editor:

The Linton Community Food Pantry would like to thank many people for their generosity and support.

We first of all give our thanks to Almighty God, for bringing five churches together, working in His name, doing His work.

Special thanks to Mary Wells at the post office for steering another very successful food drive. Mary is a special person to organize this project with her co-workers and fills the shelves to feed the hungry. God bless you Mary, and also the volunteers that drove and picked up the food.

Another special thanks to the First Christian Church and the "Between Sunday" Band for an entertaining spiritual concert to help "Pack the Pantry." For everyone that attended, donations of food or money, thank you.

We serve over 150 families a month and it takes a lot of food, money and volunteers to do it right.

People giving their time and talents to help better the life of others is truly a blessing, along with busy people sharing their good fortune with monetary donations provide the means to meet the rising numbers of needy families.

We again thank God for the support and help of the Linton community and ask for continued prayers in reaching out in others ways.

God bless you all.

Marco church says thanks for helping

To the Editor:

The saying goes that it takes a community to raise a child. I'd like to amend that by saying it takes a community to raise a flag in remembrance of those who have not only served our great country, but help to build that community.

Our small community of Marco may seem to be on a rapid decline, but the many people who assisted in the annual Memorial Service held at the Marco Cemetery in conjunction with the United Methodist Church on May 24, 2009 reinforced a sense of pride in community and country.

First and foremost we thank God for providing a beautiful day and for withholding the rain. A multitude of thanks go out to so many too numerous to mention by name who either participated in the service, provided behind the scenes support and advertisements and those who stepped in at moments notice.

Our church and community are few in number but our faith and pride are forevermore.

Thank you all.
