A letter from a son

Dear Editor,

Here is a thought provoking letter, that our readers might appreciate. To clarify, this is in third person theme.

Dear Mom & Dad,

I don't know if this is a dream or not, but I'm having the strangest frightening experience.

My girlfriend and I took a couple of hours "hooking up," then we went to this party. All my friends were there. We were smoking weed, doing drugs and had a lot of drinks, when suddenly everything became blurred, turned red and then black. After a little while I could see again but everything was dim or dark.

I began seeing forms around me. They looked like my friends, but their faces were blurred, so I couldn't identify them. I spoke to them, but nobody would answer. Finally, one form spoke to me and identified himself as my "keeper." He also said he was a demon. He told me I was in Hell.

All these people around me were doing all the things I used to do, only, they weren't having any fun. My keeper said we'll be doing these things, ad nausium throughout eternity. I've never heard of such a thing. I told my keeper, that I was getting out there and he said "you ain't going nowhere."

I looked around me and then I spotted some light a little distance away. I walked toward that light but then I came to a place where the road dropped off into nothing. I couldn't get to that place but I could see people there. They were all having fun and they were happy. There was only one light but that light lit up the whole place. My keeper told me that the place was called "Heaven" and the light was a person called "Jesus."

I remember that name from when you put me on the church bus to take me to Sunday School. I didn't learn a lot about "Him" and the little that I did learn was soon forgotten. You never spoke to me about Him.

I asked my keeper if I could go and join them, that are in the light and he said, "Not a chance"!

I aked him to tell be about this "Jesus" and why I could not go over and join "Him." Here is his reply. "That responsibility belonged to your parents and your church. They didn't love you enough to teach you about Jesus." Then he laughed long and loud and then he said "It's too late now!"

Mom and dad. Why didn't you tell me? I know that I was spoiled and wouldn't listen anyway. But why didn't you love me enough to tell me, I was stunned. I then realize that he was telling "the Truth." Why Mom? Why Dad?

Your sorrowful son,

(Any Name)

Thanks for listening,

Robert Weyer, Linton, IN
