Please reconsider Halloween 'decoration'

To the Editor:

As Halloween approaches several households around the county are decorating their houses in preparation for trick or treaters. For some, this is a time to dress up as their favorite superhero or Disney princess, and for some adults a time to place scary decorations outside of their house to scare passers by.

However, there are a couple of houses in the Bloomfield area who have taken Halloween to the next level. These two houses have placed stuffed bodies hanging themselves either from a tree or off a deck. As a family member of someone who committed suicide in this terrible way, I am absolutely offended. Having to drive by these decorations daily brings back horrific memories that I try to forget. And I'm sure there are parents out there facing questions from their kids about why there is a body hanging from a tree and why a person would do that.

I realize these decorations are only meant in good fun, but in my opinion, and I'm sure in the opinions of others, there is nothing fun or amusing about this. What I'd really like to do is go to these people's houses and tear down their decorations; instead, I'm asking they remove them. To those of you who have yet to decorate your house, please think about this before placing decorations of such obscene nature in clear view of everyone passing by.
