Bidder upset with way process was handled

To the Editor:

In response to the Bloomfield School demolition:

As you all know, Bloomfield School Corporation is doing a five-property demolition. What you all don't realize is how the bidding process worked.

For starters, I'm part owner of Kramer's Land Clearing, LLC, located in Linton. I reside in Bloomfield and only live a half mile from the school. We were contacted by Bloomfield School Corporation to bid the five-property demolition. As a result of the bidding process we were the lowest bidder.

Mr. Dan Sichting, the Bloomfield school superintendent, approached Terrell's Lawn Care and negotiated his bid. Terrell's Lawn Care was $1,258 dollars more than our bid. So, he used our bid and lowered it $1 less. What they have done here is very unethical.

Bloomfield School Corporation wants to support a local business. How much more local do you want? Mr. Terrell doesn't even live across the river.

Also, to those of you that support Bloomfield basketball, our company has supported Bloomfield basketball for years and none of us even received our education from Bloomfield. Mr. Brett Kramer, my father and the owner of Kramer's Land Clearing, has shelled out a significant amount of money so that the boys could have AAU uniforms, drinks and travel expenses paid for.

The question is, why did Bloomfield School Corporation even bid the job out? Why didn't you negotiate everyone's bid? I hope that Bloomfield School Corporation, the school board and Terrell's Lawn Care have all learned a lesson and realize that what they have done is very wrong and very unethical.

Our company is more than qualified to do the demolition. We strive for a good reputation but never will we let someone under cut our business.
