To the Editor:

The Linton-Stockton Junior Class Parents would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their monetary donations and items to our recent basket bingo. Without their support for this event it would be hard to raise the funds for post prom.

Please frequent these businesses and show your support for their generosity, because even during these hard economic times these businesses are still willing to donate to help our youth.

To the Editor:

In the Old Testament of the Bible, in the book of Samuel, we read where the Israelites were not content to be God's people, enjoying His guidance and protection. They demanded to have a king, like the rest of the world had. They rejected God.

Today, we have a government that wants to be our provider and protector, so we won't need God.

As in the biblical days where God used His own resources to provide for His people, our government (king) will rely on our resources (taxes) to provide for our people. The government keeps forcing itself on our people, and an ever increasing cost to the taxpayer ... you.

Doesn't it make sense to trust God, rather than government? He has a much better record. He provides sunshine and rain when needed. He provides the food for our table, and even the air we breathe. How much does this cost you? If we aren't careful, the government will tax the air we breathe. And imagine this, we voted for all this. We too demanded a king, instead of submitting to the will of God.

Wouldn't it be better if we submitted ourselves to the will of God and let Him provide for us and protect us? God works His wonders through us if we cooperate with His plan.

Why not return to God's way? Like I said, He has a better record.

P.S. Read II Chron. 7:14

Thanks for listening.

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Owensburg Cemetery Association, I want to express thanks for the donations that have been received in behalf of Virginia "Jean" Rush.

Jean was a very special person and will be missed. Upkeep of the cemetery was important to Jean and she donated every year.

To date, the cemetery association has received $210 in her memory. These donations will help to maintain the cemetery.
