Raymond Bedwell

Raymond Leon Bedwell, 84, of Linton, passed away at 2:21 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

He was born in Dugger, Indiana on July 1, 1926, the son of Walter "Red" Bedwell and Bessie A. Fisher Bedwell.

Raymond was a Navy Veteran, and retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; also two sons, Gary Robert Bedwell and Dennis E. Brown; two sisters, Maxine Rose and Anna Mae Blake; five grandsons, Raymond Bedwell Jr., Billy and Daniel Bedwell and twin grandsons.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Edith Brown Bedwell, whom he married on May 27, 1954; three sons, Raymond E. Bedwell (Beverly) of Jacksonville, Fla., Murrell L. Bedwell of Shelburn, Bill Bedwell (Linda) of Linton; four daughters, Debbie Flynn (Jim) of Linton, Cindy Ball (Mickey) of Linton, Connie Taylor (James) of Fortville, Ind., Sue Ann Horn (Jess) of Dexter, Mo.; one brother, Clifford Bedwell of Dugger; nine grandchildren, Ajay, Tim and Chris Flynn, Tracey Livingston, Nicki Ali, Ashley Ball, Chris Ann, Brittany, and Max Bedwell; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Terry Dowell officiating. Interment in the Dugger Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Dugger American Legion. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until p.m. Wednesday, and before services Thursday.
