Man arrested after allegedly trying to give police a fake name
Patrick L. Hamm, 21, of Lyons, was arrested in Linton Saturday night after he allegedly gave police officers a fake name.
Officers said once they determined Hamm's true identity, they also determined he was wanted on an active warrant issued in Greene County for failure to appear in court.
Linton Police Officer Thomas A. Jerrels initiated a traffic stop on a maroon Ford F-150 truck for allegedly speeding on Price Rd. and NW 15th St. in Linton at approximately 10:19 p.m.
After identifying and speaking to the driver, an officer on the scene alerted Jerrels that the male passenger might have an active warrant.
LPD Cpl. Chad Crynes arrived on the scene to assist and had the passenger, who turned out to be Hamm, exit the vehicle.
The police report states Hamm gave first gave officers his brother's name but they suspected that was incorrect.
The warrant for Hamm's arrest was issued in Greene Superior Court for failure to appear in court in a case involving four counts: Operating a vehicle while intoxicated in a manner which endangered a person; operating a vehicle while intoxicated; operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 grams but less than .15 grams of alcohol in blood or breath; and minor possession of an alcoholic beverage.
Hamm was transported and booked in to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000.
Hamm was released upon posting bond on Sunday and is scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on April 1.
