Thank you for helping family

To the Editor:

My mother passed away Jan. 2 of this year, and I was having all kinds of trouble with the funeral home taking care of the arrangements. Through my dear aunt, Dodie White, Christy James from Victoria Grace Funeral Home found out about my problems and called offering to help.

Christy James, together with Walt Hatfield from Day Funeral Home in Bloomington, with kindness and professionalism took control of the situation and lessened the burden of a grieving family.

I will never forget them for everything they did, and feel much better that people of their caliber are out there helping other families in need.

Jasonville doesn't need more alcohol

To the Editor:

I am writing in response to the article that referred to the seeking of a liquor license for the Hacienda Don Jose restaurant in Jasonville.

A statement was made that there had been no complaints made by the local churches. I am seeking to rectify that right now. I did not know that I needed to complain when there was a state law that protected us in this case.

The Hacienda is less than 150 feet from an established church. It is against the law for them to be approved for a liquor license. This should be an open and shut case. I would like to see the Hacienda remain open in Jasonville. I am a resident of Jasonville. I do not want to see a business close. However, I will not sacrifice Biblical laws and morals for the sake of finances.

Liquor is against the laws of God. It robs men and women of their mental faculties, takes bread off the tables of innocent children and has removed many a roof from over their heads. It has been the cause of multitudes murders by drunk drivers and the source of countless divorces. It destroys the individual, the family and the community.

There is no need for another place to buy liquor in the city of Jasonville. I believe there are already four liquor licenses in Jasonville. That is four more than God wants us to have, and I do publicly protest the issuing of another liquor license.
