Cards edge Washington

Bloomfield rallied from four runs down and came away with a 5-4 victory over host Washington in a high school softball game Friday.

The Lady Cards won for the eighth time in 14 games.

Nicole Hughes was the winnng pitcher. She fanned eight and walked none.

Danielle Sichting had two hits and scored one run. Paige Shirley had two hits and one RBI and Kendra Spelts finished with two hits, one run and one RBI.

Hughes was 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

"Well the game wasn't pretty, but it was a win," said Bloomfield coach Nicole Peter. "I was pleased to see that the girls never gave up during the game even when we were down 0-4.

"The girls have really matured in that aspect. They know they can come back at any point in any game."

The Lady Cards return to action when they host Shakamak in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference game on Monday.
