Thanks for supporting Joplin relief effort

To the Editor:

Thank you to everyone that supported the Joplin Relief Effort in any way!

God is good all the time. When I had a plan, God showed me his plan was bigger and better. When I heard about the tornado disaster in Joplin, Mo., I thought let's see what we can do to help, thinking of maybe sending one trailer in a week's time. Never imagining that we would send over 110 tons of supplies in 12 semi-trailers. This was done from person to person with no government help.

Some news reports said items were going to waste sitting in warehouses. Our items never saw a warehouse. Our supplies/cash were shipped directly to a local church, that dispensed immediately to people in the area.

The Bible says that when two or more are gathered in his name then he is there, well he was with us from the beginning. Evidenced from the man that gave $1,000 to the special man that gave 13 cents, to the teenager that gave the jacket off his back, and to the kids that gave their toys so the kids of Joplin would have toys too.

It was all for people that we will probably never see here on earth. Many people helped in numerous ways and if I tried to thank all of them, I know I would leave someone out. I don't want to skip anyone, you all know who you are. There were so many that helped I get misty-eyed just thinking of how much of a blessing it was and everything that happened. The 12 pallets of water within the first eight hours, the 2000 raincoats and 8,000 gloves in load 2, the volunteers when we couldn't be everywhere at once, the many sorters and loader, monetary donations, and I could go on and on.

I just want to express my deep felt gratitude for the people of Southwestern Indiana for their generosity and you will never know how much it has touched me. People who don't know Jesus would say it was just luck that this turned out so well, but I know better and I know where the glory should go.

God is good all the time.

Thank you.

Webb family appreciates

recent support

To the Editor:

I would like to express my gratitude to family and friends during the loss of my husband and best friend Philip Webb.

Special thanks to James Stone and the congregation of Christ's Church. Your love and generosity to Phil and me is a true testament of how Christians should be.

Also, a special thanks to Jim Meng, the staff at Anderson-Poindexter, and to the Color Guard of American Legion Post 22. Phil would be very honored by your tribute.

To all who sent flowers, cards, and food, God Bless you all. I knew Phil was loved by all and you showed it. He will be missed by all that knew him.

May God Bless you all.

Grandson misses his cat Callie

To the Editor:

I live on north Jefferson Street in Lyons, and I had a little calico cat named Callie. Callie was my 5-year-old grandson's pet. He loved her and someone has stolen her or killed her?

My next-door neighbor also had her cat taken from her. Both cats were spayed and were pets. I don't know how people can harm family pets?

So when they go to sleep at night I want them to know a little 5-year-old child cries for his pet, Callie.
