Thanks to those who helped with mayor's ride

To the Editor:

The Jasonville City Park Board would like to thank everyone who participated in the Third Annual Mayor's Ride.

The event was successful but could not have been if not for many volunteers who donated their time preparing for and putting on the event.

Thank you to all the volunteers. Your time and dedication is appreciated.

This year the amount of registered participants was 71, which was increased for last year's total of 61 registrants.

The park board thanks Wikker Elefant for volunteering their time and talent providing music for the event.

The park board would like to thank the sponsors of this year's event: Rash Hardware, Midwest Auto Sales, Jasonville Fire Department, Gamble's Furniture, French's Roller Rink, J'Lin Catering, Martha and Co Catering, Terre Haute Chevrolet, Pizza Villa, Carolyn's Beauty Salon, Hubbell Construction, Huddleston Construction, Town & Country Foods, Jasonville Country Kitchen, Main Source Bank, Bloomfield State Bank, Terre Haute Hyundai, Napier's Garage, Soncrant Seamless Guttering and Construction, and Criss Insurance.

For those who do not know, the Jasonville Mayor's Ride is an event put on by the Jasonville Park Board and many volunteers who want to see improvements to the city park.

These improvements benefit everyone who uses the park and gives an enjoyable place to take your children and grandchildren to play and picnic.

The event is held the last Saturday of August each year.

The event consist of registering for a motorcycle ride, approximately 100 miles, a meal, music, raffles, and vendor booths (booths were added this year).

This event brings all makes of motorcycles, not just Harley Brand. The event had a variety of makes and models. Gold wing, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki.

The park board hopes that all participants will return next year and encourages new participants to join the event.

Stop light needed on South Main in Linton

To the Editor:

Could we please have a stop light on South Main Street and "A Street" there by the post office in Linton?

People park cars in front of Bonham's Appliance Store all the way to the end of the street, and from "A St." you cannot see if a car is coming down South Main Street.

There was almost a collision there today between a truck going south, and a car turning south from "A St". It would have been fatal.

Why can't we have a stop sign (light) there? Please. Before someone gets killed.

Thank you.
