Bakersfield offers Friday night special event
Bakersfield Raceway Park will bring a special show to its 1/5 mile dirt oval this Friday night.
The 2011 Gerald "Old Scob" Scobee Memorial Race will take place this week and will feature a $1,000 to win purse for the 600 Sidewinder Class according to promoter/owner Marlon Baker.
"This is an annual tribute to Scobee," Baker said. "This is the second year for it and we always get a lot of cars for events like this."
Fans will also see a full slate of action in all divisions but this week's emphasis will be on 600 sidewinders.
Track gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated for a 7 p.m. start.
Qualifying will take place following the drivers meeting and the first green flag will fall around 8:30 p.m.
Entry fees for drivers will be $20 and all first time drivers at the track will have a $20 track registration fee.
